Q. To look ahead, you've already played a match today, but can you look ahead to your next match? You play Kournikova tomorrow.
A. I would play anyway one of the players I played in Paris already, either Anna or Iva Majoli, so I was, like, it's going to be always the same. So, no, I mean, I saw the match. It was a very good match, but I stepped on the Centre Court by myself, it looked like a soccer place. They both had matches out there. So it was like you were always ready for bad bouncing, but it wasn't easy, and this girl wasn't bad at all.
Q. Like a soccer pitch, in what way?
A. Soccer place.
Q. In what way?
A. If you were serving the baseline was, like, almost no grass, and also the grass was like if a soccer player had run over it, because everything bounced in a different way, and you always had to be ready for everything.
Q. Martina, is it tough to be Martina Hingis, to have all those expectations towards you, all the interest, all the people?
A. Everybody's asking me this all the time, and I always say no, because I'm bringing the results, and it looks like, I mean, now I'm to the semis I can say again it doesn't look like it's too much pressure on me.
Q. What would be pressure for you?
A. Well, tomorrow is for sure not an easy match. I mean, against Anna again, I beat her very - I played very well in Paris, but here on this surface, I think she feels much more confident, and today is going to be a very good match. For sure, it's a little different than in Paris, she had nothing to lose, and now she has beaten a couple of great players out there.
Q. Martina, are there any matches so far on your run to the semi-finals that have stretched you at all?
A. Stretched me?
Q. You know, you found difficult?
A. Well, the first match wasn't very easy. I mean, that was my first match on grass this year. It's always not very easy, because I was pretty surprised how she played, Anne Kremer, she's a great two hander, I think, but nobody really knows her that well. I knew her from the junior tournaments, but, I mean, the expectations were so different than she played, actually.
Q. Do you think you will have a problem, if against Anna you might need to step up a gear?
A. Everyone is stepping up by each match. She always played better and better. She had almost always three setters. She was down a couple of times, and she always came back. Especially in the first set, she always lost easily. She's improving and improving by each match. So that's going to be for sure a tough one.
Q. Do you think that you and Anna will be a rivalry for many years? Do you look at her already and see someone that you will be playing, like, let's say Evert and Martina Navratilova, or something like that?
A. We'll see in the future. It depends how the thing goes on tomorrow; until now I always beat her pretty easily. Tomorrow is going to be a different match. It's another Grand Slam. It's very good for her. She had great results. I never made semi-finals by that time. So she beat one of my records now.
Q. Do you know her at all? Have you ever had a chance to talk with her?
A. Yes, I mean, I know her since we were little. I mean, we always grew up together, in the junior tournaments, and I always talked to her, congratulated her when she played well.
Q. Did you spend any time in the locker room chatting, friendly or just ...
A. I don't know, she's in a different locker room, but at the other tournaments she had a good tournament already in Berlin, so I said, "Well done, you did a great job there", and she's very thankful also, if somebody tells her that, I would say.
Q. Are you surprised with the fact that she has reached the semi-finals?
A. Well, it's hard to say. I mean, she's such a different player on grass courts. She's much better here. I mean, she likes this tournament a lot. She always had very good results in juniors already, and now this is the first year in this tournament she make the semi-finals. So that's very good.
Q. Martina, you're playing great tennis, number 1 in the world, big contracts, have a big smile. Has all your success, has it ever surprised you? Do you feel you have a charm left?
A. No, I always have worked hard for it, that I could achieve everything. It doesn't surprise me at all. Everything came pretty fast in the last half year, but now it's just improving and improving, and I'm still getting the results. So it's maybe more surprising for the other people. I always beat a couple of good players, but I wasn't strong enough to go through the whole tournament, because I was maybe too young to be experienced and still not in a great shape. Everything goes with me, so it's with Anna, she's getting stronger and better.
