Q. Since becoming no. 1 in the world, you have not had the opportunity to play Steffi Graf and it is very possible that you may never see Steffi on the court again, is it something that you might think later on down your career, "I really wanted to be able to play her when I was no. 1 to show that I was at that time better than Steffi"?
A. No, because I don't care about what's on the other side. I mean, if she's going to come back again, for sure it's not going to be the same Steffi as she was before. You could see it already now, that she didn't play as well as before, but she's not the youngest player on the tour anymore, but what she achieved, it's just great, I mean, she won all the Grand Slams and she had a great career and if she's going to come back, it's going to be very hard after six months, so you can - the same Steffi, but I mean, it's like for me, because I'm at the beginning, I can't really talk about it because her career is almost over and I'm at the beginning, so I don't really care because there are so many other players. Monica, she's going to be always a hard player, doesn't matter where you meet her, and Iva, I lost to Iva, yeah. Novotna isn't easy on this surface, but it's kind of like changing everything, you know, the same players are not going to stay there for 50 years.
Q. Today's match, could you tell me - did Nicole show you anything you might not have expected from her? Were you surprised?
A. I was already surprised that she beat Raymond because I thought Raymond is a better player on this surface because she's better ranked and I think she's a more solid player, but Nicole had already a good tournament in Paris, she made the fourth round and she beat Novotna there I think and she's a very good doubles player too, so she has usually a very good serve and volley game and today I just had to be ready for everything. She served pretty well, but I just tried to get the ball in the game and make my game - make the best shots. That's what I did.
Q. Martina, after the French Open, when you needed to recover your legs from having played so much so quickly, how long was it before you got back on the court to begin full 100 per cent training once again?
A. After Paris?
Q. Yes.
A. After Paris, well, I played - I didn't play two days - I didn't play till Wednesday. There I played just an exhibition with Mr Hag, you might know him, he's like from a sponsor, Omega, he owns all the watches, Omega, Rado and, he's a really big man there and I just played this exhibition and I had a day where I had interviews and all different kinds of things, sponsoring, and then on Thursday, we went to JAWA and I started on Friday a little bit. More for me physically, not on the tennis court, we play like two hours a day, but then on the bike, jogging, horse riding.
Q. Are you fresh again and your legs were feeling good?
A. Yes, I had, like, five days off, so should be fresh and ready.
Q. Do you have any explanation for all the big name players who are falling and how are you so sharp after a couple of days of rain before your match yesterday?
A. I just knew that I have a great chance against both players. I mean, Schikova, she's a youngster as I am, so I just - you never want to lose against players who are the same age as you are or one year older, and today I knew - Arendt has a very good serve and volley game, but I like if someone comes to the net. I have very good passing shots, so I felt very excited to step on the court again and I felt great.
Q. Any thoughts on the other players - that's the first part of the question - and all the big name players who have fallen, especially today?
A. Yes, well, Martinez lost to Sukova, no? Yes, well, Sukova is an old experienced player, I mean, especially on grass. We won the doubles last year and I don't know, maybe she's giving a come back here, I didn't see her, she's pretty tough here.
Q. You're playing well, and you're familiar with the grass having won the doubles last year. Do you feel invincible out there? Do you feel you can't be beat when you go out?
A. No, you never feel invincible. There's always the first match again Kremer. I don't feel like that at all. I just thought maybe one day - once in a while, I just have to make the most important point and that's what I did there, but she was very - I was very surprised by the game she played and today or the other matches, I just felt, "Yeah, well, I feel very good on the court and very confident", and there was no chance - I never thought I'm going to lose, no.
Q. You were saying before that it would be nice to have a Martina Hingis for Americans because American tennis is sort of going downhill. Any chance of moving there and helping out the Americans?
A. No way, never!
